Longyard Golf features an 18 hole course designed by Bob Harrison and Greg Norman. The course is a Par 72 and is 6,239 metres for men and 5,339 metres for ladies. The course is just a few minutes from the heart of town and is located conveniently just off the New England Highway (Goonoo Goonoo Road). Irrigated, undulating fairways and superb greens make the perfect course all year round. Golf carts and equipment are available for hire.

The newly renovated clubhouse provides the ideal end to your round; enjoy something to eat from The 19th Hole Cafe or enjoy a well deserved drink from the fully licensed bar with views overlooking the course.

The 19th Hole cafe is the perfect venue for many types of functions or corporate events.

Guests are also welcome at the 19th Hole Cafe to take advantage of the facilities, including a fully secure children's play area. The cafe is open 7 days a week and is open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights with a special menu available.

The pro shop has a wide range of quality stock and golf lessons are available for individuals and groups.

Longyard Golf also features Tamworth's only driving range and now boasts a new undercover bay shed.

Rapidly gaining a reputation as an exceptional test of golf, Longyard Golf is a real country gem, just outside the metropolitan region of Tamworth. It is a Harrison/Norman designed course, which boasts Santa Anna Couch fairways along with bent grass greens. Longyard was also the venue for the 2002 NSW Masters.

Probably Tamworth's more interesting course, not always up and down and links-style. Not the traditional links-style course as the 9th hole comes back to the clubhouse and not located near the coast, but apart from that, it has foot-long untouched rough, with thin covered fairways, which allows the drive to roll. Trees are not easily seen and can become a true test of golf in the heat; I think I saw 3 large trees on the GC with many other small native vegetation to negotiate with.

Measures 6239m Par 72 with 10 Par 4s, 4 Par 5s and 4 Par 3s. It boasts probably the best finishing 3 holes I've ever played on. Hole 16 par 3 over water, Hole 17 long par 5 around a lake and the 18 a testy par 4 around the same lake.

Hazards include water (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 18th) and bunkers protecting big fairway hitters and greens. The wind also plays a LARGE part, as in many links courses.

Played on 20/11/05 (Sunday) and paid $22 green fees for 18 holes, and it costs $18 weekdays for social/visitor green fees. Better to play on the weekend here, as Tamworth GC is quite full with locals social comps running until 3pm. Plenty of luxury home developments along this course, which reminds me of Macquarie Links International GC in Sydney's SW.

This is a very challenging course with a lot of potential for the future. Development galore going on at the moment. A tough test of golf but fully worth it. Some really challenging holes and if the wind blows hang onto your hats!
